Restaurant reviews for Green Harbor Lobster Pound

WOW What a spot!!!

I have been going to the Green Harbor Lobster pound for over 50 years. The ownership has only changed hands twice in that time and the food has always been top notch. The lobster rolls are packed with fresh lobster meat which they cook that day. The lobsters are taken from salt water tanks that are feed from the river that the pound is right next to. It is truly a Lobster pound. The fried clams are to die for, many people I know make it a day trip to enjoy the beach which is a short walk from the pound and at the end of the day sit down at one of the picnic tables by the river and enjoy a real summer time feast.
You will not be dissapointed

Best Lobster Rolls

During last weeks hot spell I didn't want to cook and ordered lobster rolls for dinner. Yes, they are a bit pricey, but all meat and delicious, and NOT loaded with mayonaise. We also got side orders of onion rings and french fries, and they were cooked to perfection.
We WILL be back for more!

A hidden local treasure of what should be - world class cuisine

I am coming back to Massachusetts from CA this summer for vacation. My family originated in Boston. As an investor in several successful west coast restuarants, I am hoping to find a way to make steamers, fried clams, lobsters and north atlantic seafood available in many luxury seafood restaurants in America.

Excuse me for the long winded introduction, but the Green Harbor lobster pound serves the freshest seafood, exquisitely prepared and of the finest quality that I have found anywhere. It is ironic that many people in this area treat these specialties as fast food. These exceptional meals would be high end delicicies in the finest restaurants in other parts of America.

I have spoken with the Proprietors, Dottie and Paul at length to try and steal their secrets. Surprisingly they were very cooperative and totally honest in many areas, but never revealed their secret recipes. I learned many things from Dottie and Paul. Lobsters had many different levels of quality. Some of the considerations were what stage after molt, also known as hard shell or soft shell, but with many degrees of subtlety, male or female, the location in which they were taken, sandy bottom or rocky bottom, salinity of the water, water temperature, storage methods, packing density and how shell color, speckles, rigidity can help reveal all of the above differentiators in quality. Many of the same features also apply to clams.

It is clear that Dottie and Paul have used their profound knowledge of their core products to produce a gourmet meal in a fast food environment.

It is also clear that their knowledge or possibly their connection with the supply chain keep their prices so low. I suspect there is no middleman. From the boat to your plate keeps everything fresh and the price low. Their lobster roll contains a whole lobster.

Order the onion rings with every dish. They are incredible. I did learn a secret they use evaporated milk. It not only sticks better but does not require refrigeration to stay fresh.

Eat up. If I have my way, these delicacy will be at the highest end restaurants across america soon.

best service in town

I've been going to the green harbor lobster pound for years and they have never disappointed me. The service is so friendly and the family and the other workers are really passionate and really caring. They are really generous and fun. The food is amazing! I go all the time and the food has definitely gotten better. The new service window is great too. They are very generous to the beach parkers and all of the beach-goers. They all work so hard and care about the customer. Keep up the good work guys!

The best lobster I have ever had

I was on vacation around Green Harbour. I heared of the lobster pound and how great the food was. I ordered the lobster roll and it was fantastic, also the service was outstanding, a real great place to go for outstanding food and friendly people. I will be going back everytime I go to Green Harbour. The beach was the nicest beach around and the parking was good, the price was cheap and the parking attendants helped out with carrying our beach stuff. Thank you Green Harbour Lobster Pound you have a valued customer for life.

THE BEST CLAMS!!!!!!!!!

With the current shortage and high price of Clams, the pound delivers. They have a terrific clam plate under twelve dollars. The clams are sweet and nicely fried. The night I was there the cook really overcooked the fries just the way I love them. The slaw is delicious. My only complaint were the tiny bugs by the picnic tables that bit like crazy! This is a true clam shack and the only one I've been back to on the South Shore.

The best pound in town

I have been parking my car at the Green Harbor Lobster Pound for years now always getting somthing to eat at the snack bar or bringing a few lobsters home with me. Now that a new family has bought the property it has gotten even better the service is incredible it's just a nice place to go. And the Family who bought it runs it in the family. I think they just need to advertise a little more because not many people know about it.

Great fish & chips!

This place is literally a hole in the wall. There's a building there with nothing but a take-out window and a couple of picnic tables strewn about. The only thing I've had is the fish & chips, but they were great. Smallish portions, but smallish prices, too.
