Restaurant reviews for Mama Mia's

Will not be back

My husband and i have been regular customers for quite some time, at least twice a week for lunch. We enjoyed their salads, pizza and haddock. Went for lunch this week, had unfriendly, slow service and the meal was cold. We hadn't be in for a few weeks due to summer vacation, so we asked where our favorite bartender Jim is. The girl just rolled her eyes, then said everyone asks and that he was let go. JIm was the main reason we frequented Mama mias, as he made us feel special and at home. They made a mistake letting him go. My husband will not go back.

Great pizza, good italian menu, hidden jewel

this place is great- they have it together, consistent food, pasta, parm, salads, pizza is the best. real nice bar area, big tv, keno. all at affordable prices. Jim the day time bartender is a real nice guy and takes good care of us.

Food is Great, but service is not always there

in my opinion the most important thing in a restaurant is the FOOD,
Mama Mia's gets that right with high marks from me on the food.
it's always fresh, and delicious. we go regularly and love the salads, pastas and pizzas. But the service isn't always there - especially if you sit in the bar area. some nights they have the bartender working the bar, service bar for the other waitress, the keno AND all the tables in the bar. that's impossible for all to get good service. my observations is the wait staff does not work as a team. My server will clearly be in the weeds while 3 other servers are standing around doing nothing.
We will go back again and again because of the food - just wish the mgt would get service to be consistent.

Love the food but..

We are regular customers at Mama's but if the food were not so good we would not be. The take out folks forget something almost every time. CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE YOU LEAVE. When we've called to inform management they've always been apologetic and handled it professionally but I just wish the order could be right the first time. I guess that's what you get from teens who are probably thinking of everything but whether you have your complete order.

Kid friendly good food

At least twice a month I terrorize the place with my two young kids. The make a terrible mess and drop darn near everything 'cept a deuce on the floor.

The food is reliable; steak tips especially good as is the pizza

Great pizza and salad

The ambiance in the restaurant is not the best so we always choose to sit in the bar area. We order an antipasto to split between 2 and pizza. Always good.

friendly

We have found that the wait staff is generally friendly and attentive. Maybe the Fairview could hire a few of them away!

great

We love this place for a quick meal (no actual dining there). The food is great...wonderful red sauce. The antipasto salad would feed 4 and is fresh and varied and no boiled ham and American cheese in sight! I love the stuffed peppers. You will have lunch for two days off the leftovers. Oh, some decent wines, too.

lunch

Go for lunch and take home dinner. The portions are so big, you will eat the leftovers later in the day. The red sauce is good, and that makes or breaks an Italian restaurant.

Mamma Mia's Misery

After years of being a loyal Mamma Mia's customer I was shocked during my last visit! The first thing I noticed missing was our favorite staff. My husband & I have been bar customers for @ 4 years always in to visit our 2 favorite bartenders, and greeted with a smile! When we asked where they were we were told that they had left, asked to return, but refused. This was very upsetting especially after I ran into one of them a few nights later & was told she had been wrongly accused of stealing & was fired. I feel that with the loss of their pizza & line cooks & now bar staff they are sure to fail. We will never return!

From bad to worse, awful service

I've frequented this location since it opened. We considered it to be a decent family friendly place with a menu that offered something for everyone. Most recently last night, with my wife and two children. After the hostess had checked for a table, she seated the four of us at a table with three chairs, and two place settings, and french fries clearly visible on the carpet. So I got my own chair. The busgirl arrived with bread before the waitress. When the waitress did arrive she had no patience. We all saw her roll her eyes to the ceiling while my nine year old was deciding what he wanted to drink. We ordered Fried calamari for an appetizer and it arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The waitress made no attempt to provide plates or the missing place settings. So I grabbed the place settings from a nearby table, and flagged down the busgirl to get a couple of plates. My son ordered a Greek Salad, spaghetti & meatball for my daughter, eggplant for my wife, and I ordered Chicken Marsala. This was the first time a waitress asked me if I wanted red sauce or Marsala sauce with the chicken marsala. As far as I can tell, it wouldn't be Marsala with red sauce, or without Marsla sauce. The waitress never cleared the appetizer or plates from the table, or asked how it tasted. When she brought our meals she placed them in front of all the others. When she got to mine, she just stood there holding the dinner, making no attempt to move the appetizer plate. When I moved it, I got my meal. The waitress never came by to ask how the food was, or if we needed anything else. The busgirl noticed when we were finished and politely offered to box the leftovers and cleared the plates. The waitress arrived with a bill which was incorrect. I flagged her down and asked her to correct it which she did, although it took about ten minutes for her to return. We all left satisfied with the amount and quality of the food, but very disappointed in the decline in service since this place opened.

There are plenty of other places near Mama Mia's, I'd recommend trying all of them before you try Mama Mia's in Marshfield!

Yum

Excellent thin crust Neapolitan style Pizza. The staff is young, and sometimes inexpereinced, but that doesn't take away from the food.

Try the one in PLYMOUTH

The sauce is very dull-deffiantley generic, there is nothing special here.i will have to agree that their staff is very snooty, you can't afford to be snooty when you direct neighboor is a Dunkin Donuts....I have been to all of the Mamma Mia's. Hopefully Sammy (one of the owners) will read this and realize that Mamma Marshfield is just not good for very tasty reputaion. Try the one on Plymouth harbor, the alfredo is pretty good, it's tiny but there are nice veiws and the staff is a little more friendly.

thanks, but no thanks

Poor location (how can you call yourself a serious eatery with Dunkin Donuts next door?), non-descript atmosphere, just too kitchy.... Food is average. My personal rating? 2.5 out of 5 stars. -Bc

WORST EVER!

This is the worst Italian restaurant I've ever been in my entire life. The pasta and food in general is literately worse than Papagino's. It was a joke to me. I will never go back in this life!

I have never eaten at Marshfield Pizza I wrote this review for Mamma Mias.

I highly recommend it.

My family eats there often. We find the service friendly and prompt and the atmosphere relaxed. The best antipasto I have ever had. Pizza, chicken Marsala and chicken parm are my families favorites.

Great Pizza-accomodating staff

My family & I have eaten at Mama Mia's several times in the past months. We have found the staff very friendly and the service quick. We love the pizza, but my husband loves the eggplant. In our book, Mama Mia's gets a 5 star!!

Pizza good - Staff Rude

We will NEVER go back to Mama Mia's in Marshfield again. Their staff (waitresses, waiters, bartenders, phone people) are the rudest people we have ever come across. They are not 'people' friendly!

Overrated

You can get better pizza out of Star Market's frozen section. The help is better at Star also.

Good Pizza, found the wait staff/management surly

Good quality pizza, hot and fresh, found the wait staff to be down right rude. Takeout only in my view.
