We really enjoyed the China Wok for its first few months, but then they started adding about 5 x more salt that previously to the chow mein. We tried three separate times, and the salt was always "over the top." Too bad, 'cause Hanover [Imperial Garden] is a long drive for good Chinese... There was something in the food that made me nervous all night. I was later told by a local, that it's all the MSG they use. The food and service were both great. Marshfield is not known for having any good Chinese food but this place is pretty solid in quality. My food is always very fresh, hot, and incredibly tasty. I always choose this place for my Chinese now and do not even bother with the others. The only issue I have is that the food does not digest well. I usually need to use the bathroom soon afterwards and it does not come out in a healthy form. I only have that one bout of diarhea, however, and then I am fine. A small price to pay for good Chinese, especially if you are bringing it back to the privacy of your own home. The cooking varies depending on the chef but it is always either a 9.5 or a solid 10. I have had numerous parties catered by China Wok and everyone raves about the food. I have clients that want to meet in Marshfield just so that they can have China Wok food. Not only is the food good but the owner and workers are superb. Special orders are no problem. I have no idea where the poor reviews came from. Competitors???? Now the bad food seems to be ruling the day. They used to be unbelievably greasy with the oil running out of the cartons and leaking through the bag before you got it home, but then things got better and they were turning out some really good take out for over a year. I think they had a new cook. Now it seems like the old greasy cook is back. It's awful again. I try to get "steamed" items to avoid the grease pit now.

After recently moving to Marshfield I realized fast that China Wok was not worth the trip. The food is so greasy and poorly made, I will definitely not be returning. So I sat and waited patently. They handed me the bag. Drove home, openned it up....wrong order. Wasn't even anything I would eat so I wouldn't have to drive all the way back there. Called them up, they knew right away told me to bring it back. I am working on staying calm so I drove it back, smiled, said no problem...they started to ring up my order again. Apparently the wrong first order wasn't as expensive as mine. Some nerve asking me to pay the difference after they screwed up and had me drive it back. I think not mister! I beg to differ with those who think that they actually can taste this stuff. You might preface your visit (or take out order) with a handful of Zantacs, wash that down with a few gulps of Mylanta. Chew some Tums on the way to the restaurant, and after eating, pop some Pepcid before it all goes "thud." I ate here twice. That was three times too many. It's a clean place and they serve good food and it's definitely worth the price. They recently had a 1/2 price sale on all their entrees for their 1 year anniversary and now whenever I call in an order, it's always much busier there. Bejing in Norwell is excellent but China Wok runs a close second in my book. I really got a laugh from the last review about having bathroom issues after eating at China Wok. After my most ecent visit, however, I have to agree! I got food that was really tasty, well cooked, prepared nicely...things seemed great. Even the portions were quite large! Then, after the meal, I had a dire need to go to the bathroom and had some issues with my bowel movement. I also had very loose and messy stools for about 2 days after the meal. It is too bad, too, because the food was so great! Now I am not sure if I will go back or not. It is the best Chinese I have had in Marshfield in a long, long time...and good Chinese is worth making some sacrifices for...but 2 days of bowel troubles may be too high a price to pay. Try it and test it if you like, because the food really was very enjoyable...just be wary of the effects it may have on you. I ate a pu-pu for 2 and a bowl of the hot and sour soup... my only complaint was that about 10 minutes later i had the runs! oh no i thought was it somethinG i ate? well it was i had the mushy-poo for 2 days(2 BRUTAL DAYS AT THAT) and when i called and told them they pretended not to understand or not care... I don't find it greasy. The delivery service is very quick and courteous. I'm picky about my food, and am quite pleased with China Wok as far as quality, price and service. Every time I order from them, I am NEVER disappointed. The food always tastes especially fresh to me. Original recipies and terrific service abound! I don't know what that last reviewer was talking about... I find their food particularly UN-greasy (except for the crab rangoon, but I think you have to expect grease with your crab rangoon). I am also happy to see their involvement with the town - particularly the Boys and Girls Club- they are always donating their DELICIOUS services for their events and their musical talents are unmatched! (ask them about it sometime!) China Wok has completely replaced the Ming for me. I have probably eaten in over 1000 Chinese places from Singapore to Paris and this is the greasiest chinese food I've ever had. The grease ate through the carton, the bag and my upholstery in my car.
